Since the time the little goddess, Skadi was born she was always strong and loved to hunt out in the woods.  Never would the goddess go without her bow and arrows.  She loved the quietness of the forest.  Skadi would hunt all year round if she could, but in the winter the snow was too deep to run through. By the age of thirteen Skadi was tired of not hunting in the wintertime.  She asked her father, Thjatsi if he knew how to help her.

“ Father, how could I stay above the snow to hunt?” she asked.

Her father thought and thought but couldn’t come up with a way to help her.

All he said was, “ Look west to find the answer to your question.”
