Kudos to Kersh & Gino - great skiing boys. As for the decision to start Babikov (skater) and harvey over McKeever - doesn't look so good now, does it?

Easy to say after the race. Don't forget Alex's 3rd in this race in the World Cup last year. So let's leave'em alone, you've got an amazing race to watch over and over again. Rock on, Devon.

Brian is an amazing skier with a lot of talent. But not starting him was the logical choice, he was only there to start if one of the other four were sick. Ivan was the strongest Canadian skier going into the 50k. Do not take away from his or any of the other racers today by questioning their starting. Canada raced incredibly well and everyone should be proud.

hindsight is not always 20-20.
didnt the coaches say after the relay that some of the guys had tired legs?

It is CCC that should take the blame for the McKeever situation. The press releases said he would compete. I don't recall ever hearing that he was just a substitute. They created the expectations (TV commercials, even!), and everyone believed it...then the coaches had to take the fall for what happened when they were only doing their jobs. It certainly ruined the 50K for me, sadly, when 2 days before I would have been jumping out of my skin.
A loud and clear mea culpa is due to the public and all concerned.

for me the 50k was not ruined. Also the whole country saw the finish between periods of the hockey game as well as Devon's interview.

Too bad for Brian. I believe he earned the right to race and had it stolen away from him.

Great races. Fantastic performances from the men all through the games. Just a thought - 1.6 seconds is about the time it takes for a slightly fumbled ski change. And why was there only a raised fence, and no v-board separating the pit lane from the "through" lane?

in an individual start race, yes, 1.6 seconds of ski exchange would be the difference. however, it is impossible to project Devon forward due to one exchange, as mass start racing involves plenty of up and down movement within the pack. Kersh gave it his all and then some - the guy is a hero no matter what.

Look at Graham Mclean in the background, all the service men worked so hard at the games and wanted to win a medal, I didn't see any other team out there that could match the Canadian skis, they had awesome skis all the time. I really hope CCC can keep going into future years at the same level they are at now. As for Brian, I recall Olympic trials were alternate selection races, he made the team when so many others didn't, unfortunately for Brian: Kersh, Grey, Alex and Ivan all skied amazing races to raise the level of skiing in Canada. If those four guys were consistenly in the 30's and 40's I am sure Brian would have raced, but Inga trained those 4 to compete at the Olympics, not participate, and they did. Congrats to Devon, that 50k finish was crazy.

I agree, leave it alone now, the decision was made, it was the right one at the right time with the previous results to relate. No one seems to mention the fact of the other skiers that never got to compete either, I am sure they are just as deserving and just as disappointed to not get their chance, mean while Brian will shine at the para olympics.

I just found out on Fasebook that Ivan was receiving "Hate you.." messages. It's stupid to blame the team...how could anyone write such thing? all four of them - were awesome!Ivan does not desirve such attitude... and it's not him who made decission. Hope it's not someone from Brian's guys...I know Brain will shine soon!
